These earphones are amazing, after owning the EX300 that followed before them I immediately realised that the EX700's do not have quite as large volume span up and down. Aside from this these headphones are exceptional obviously they take a couple of songs to break in to but after that they are just so sharp and precise.
Even though these earphones cost allot they are worth the buy!!!!!!!!

I have always been a big fan of Sony and there great audio electronics. I use one of there Hi MD MZ-RH1 minidisc players the ex700s are its perfect partner!! oh yes they are but one important thing to note all my music files are Atrac3 352kbps which is CD quality sound!! when music is played at this bit rate when using the ex700s the sound is truly amazing!! I'm amazed at the phones on how the music is so crisp and clear everytime!! trust me these are well worth the money!! but id tell you to get a Sony Hi MD player to use with these and rip your music from cds to atrac3 352kbps!! you will be amazed by the sound quality!!

I have been with Sony for years and I was always a fan of sub bass + high trebles headphones.
Well I've just got these through the door and at first I was shock how 'dry' ( real, 'unblurred' ) they sound but an hour late (after few hours their sound somehow moulds even better, i know - it's mad ) I realised that these are the best headphones I've had.
Definitely HI- FI - I promise you WILL hear the instruments and arrangements to such perfection it will seem like you are listening your favourite song for the first time .
Not even to mention the precision of the sound.
For some of you they will be a bit too much in the middle sound register but just a tiny tweak on the equaliser and all the beauty will come out gloriously.
Also for all the fans of big, fat, pump sounded headphones, these won't be your favourite. Try some other model.
All in all for me -Simply stunning.

I had a Sony Walkman NWZ-X1060 for as a Christmas present. The supplied headphones are pretty good, but I wanted to see if I could get better.
My initial purchase was the Sennheiser IE6 set of earphones. Although they are good, I wasn't that happy with them and so gave them to my wife to replace her older Sennheiser earphones for her IPod.
After looking at a few reviews, I decided to try these Sony MDR-EX700LP earphones. Although I have only had them for a short time, I think that they are excellent! Clarity is the best word for them. I can hear the different tones and instruments noticably better than before. My music tends to range from Opera to Rock and they handle everything very well. I find that it does take a bit of playing about with the equaliser etc on the Walkman to get the best balance - and I guess that the final sound is a matter of personal choice.
But overall, an excellent set of earphones. I have given them 5 stars. I was tempted to give them four stars simply because of the price - they are quite expensive. However, judged simply on the sound quality, I think that they rate the five stars.
