Excellent earphones. Best in the ear phones. The quality of sound is fantastic and the noise reduction feature is so good that I would recommend people remove them from at least one ear whilst crossing the road. The soft buds that come with the earphones so they fit into yoru ear are great. My only issue is that i don't know where to get replacement ones from!

I decided to look for a premium set of headphones as tired of paying every 4-5 weeks for cheapies. These are definately premium. Great value for the money, they have excellent noise reduction from outside noise, fit my ear perfectley and although not the cheapest they are definately worth the money. Unbelievable clear sound and bass.I would heavilly reccomend. A+++++

The IE6 headphones are expensive though deliver a decent linear response that sounds good with a wide range of music.
The IE6 use a single armature to produce sound, and while not as complex as the multiple armature systems, produces a very accurate response over a wide range of frequencies. The output is more linear than cheaper earbuds like the cx300, which tend to mute quiet sounds and make medium levels sounds louder. The IE6 can also reproduce very high pitches, well over 15000Hz.
This does not necessarily mean that the IE6 sound better. The cx300 non-linearity softens high frequency noise and makes everything else sound loud, which works well for dance, hiphop and rock music, but can sound quite poor with anything that isn't intended to be played at top volume. The IE6 do a better job with a wider range of music, and you will be able to distinguish a lot more subtlety due to better definition in volume. This also means that you will notice greater stereo effects or a better "sound stage", as the IE6 reproduces the difference in volume between the earbuds more accurately, which places sound perceptually closer to where the artist intended.
The single armature used in the IE6 means that they are relatively small and light compared to other top of the range earbuds, and are rounded rather than boxy. The fit is good whether you have the cable over the ear or dangling, and the cable is high quality and resistant to damage. The included accessories are very comprehensive, and there is a smart metal/plastic storage box to keep everything in.
If you like your music loud, you might not find the IE6 to be worth the extra money they cost. They do heavy drum and bass very well, but only slightly better than the cheaper Sennheiser earbuds. If you want pair of earbuds for a wide range of music, particularly acoustic and vocal music, the IE6 are an excellent choice.

I like all kinds of music from dance, house and techno to pop-rock, rock, blues or classical(orchestral)
The quality of the finishing is very good. The jack although it was making funny noises in the beginning now doesn't make any sounds. The wire looks resistant and is not very thick nor thin and flimsy and it's also long enough to wear it under your sleeve and keep the mp3 player in your hand or clipped in the edge of the sleeve (I'm 1.80 tall by the way). Now the headphones itself are very compact, comfortable to wear and the design is outstanding, A+ for that. The silicon tips that come with the headphone itself are not very comfortable to wear as they tend to fall all the time from your ears and they don't block the outside noise. That's why I bought the Comply T400 foam tips which are outstanding for the noise-isolating job. The problem with the T400 tips is that they are over-sized I ordered size M and for me size M were big(and I don't know if I can refund them because they were sealed.) And I'm not the only one complaining about the size of the Comply ear tips. The Senn IE6 come with ear-hooks for a more secure fitting. Although I was skeptic about their effect in the first place they prove to be a must when I'm being involved in activities which involve movement such as running to catch the bus ..Ha Ha. I've seen people complying about them but the secret about these ear-hooks is to give them the shape of your ear. Once you did that you can jump as much as you can. An one more thing about ear-hooks, they're not designed to be taken off every 10 -15 minutes such as when shopping in a supermarket when you need to talk from time to time to people. Also the headphones come with a clip for the wires a wax cleaning tool and a carrying pouch with a "professional" look but very unconformable to use(it takes you 1-2 minutes to get the headphones out of it.)
NOW THE SOUND.
The sound in these headphones is great but not overwhelming. They're very pleasant if you don't care about highs because these headphones lack in treble big time. I usually listen all sorts of music but I'm more into rhythmic music and I like to feel the definition of sound and that effect of space that some tunes have.
Listening to Dash feat Emma Hewitt - Waiting I didn't have the feeling of space that my HP HDX18 laptop gives.
Listening to Beyonce's songs these headphones couldn't release the full potential of her voice.
Also don't think about guitars because you won't find those glistering treble here. Even with the treble cranked up to maximum on my Sansa Clip I couldn't get that crystalline sound. So do bear in mind this if you're after glistering treble because all you can find here is a good bass and mid-tones with muffled trebles.
I'm not being dishonest and I would say that these are a cracking pair of headphones in every little aspect and you now you get a German engineered pair of headphones but the highs are just disappointing and it's such a shame, I would have kept them.
I will post a review on youtube maybe untill march/2010.

I'm generally very impressed with these earphones.
**Pros-
Very clear mid and treble, strong and tight bass with good headroom at healthy sound presure levels
Slightly "warm" sound - pleasing with most tracks
Appear well built (too early to comment any further)
Good selection of silicon tips including double-flanged tips.
Over-the-ear design takes some getting used to but clearly reduces cable noise
**Cons-
Not quite flat response - slight bass emphasis. This and the "warm" sound characteristic may make them unsuitable for mixing, otherwise it's entirely subjective and many will prefer it this way.
No foam tips (subjective)
Box essentially useless - larger than most mp3 players or music phones!!
Quite outwardly visible when compared to say the descrete etymotic phones
UPDATE: Six months in, the black plastic trim around the earphones has come off. I'm prepared to ignore this as I've not been especially gentle with them, I've owned sennheisers in the past and they've been very tough, and as sennheiser replaced them without question when they might have been within their rights legally to refuse.
UPDATE: Sound appears to improve significantly with age. Either that or I'm just getting used to the sound - either way, I like the way these sound even more than I did when I wrote the above.
