Varnam VM830BT comes with a unique touch sensitive front panel to control the functionalities. The touch panel provides the user interface for the photo frame there by avoiding protrusive buttons on the frame. A full function remote control complements the touch panel control.
Not just that it also has a built in re-chargeable battery for operating it with out the mains power adapter.
It also comes with a built in flash memory to store your photos, music or video files
The Photo frame can read and display photographs taken in JPEG format, if you insert a memory card with pictures, the frame will automatically start playing them as a slide show.
The slide show timings (the time interval for which a particular photo is displayed) can be adjusted between 1 second and 60 minutes. There is a choice of built in transition effects.
The photo frame can read and display contents of plain text files contained in the memory card or in the internal memory.
Wide viewing angle, with LCD screens, this is an important factor that needs to be considered. In Varman digital frame the viewing angle is 130 degrees when viewed from left to right. 45 degrees when viewed from top and 65 degrees when viewed from bottom.
Varnam digital photo frame has a built in rechargeable battery making it convenient to take them around. On a fully charged battery the frame can operate for 1.5* hours. When the photo frame is connected to the mains charger, the battery gets charged and simultaneously it can do its normal functions.
Like a LCD television the photo frame uses a LCD panel. Quality of the LCD panels used determines the quality of the display and hence determines the price of the product. Varnam uses one of the highest quality 8 inch displays available with a resolution of 800x480 pixels reproducing rich and vibrant colours. The lifetime of the LCD panel is 20,000 hours. With an average viewing of 10 hours per day this gives a life time of the LCD panel as 5 years.

After receiving this item I posted a review that said that it seemed ok but I was disappointed that it did not have 'random play' feature and so I was hoping to return it. Further to this I must now ammend my review.
Upon receiving the item I read through the instruction booklet and was disappointed to note that there was no random play feature. I did not use the item in any way although while I read the instructions one of my children switched the item on in readiness for use. Once I realised it was not what I wanted I packaged it back up and contacted the seller asking if I could return it. Their response was that I could return it as long as it had not been powered up. In a rather stroppy email they said that 'they would know' if it had been used and that if they found out that it had been used then they would return it to me at my own expense. They also said that they had noted I had put a review on Amazon for the item and that this suggested I had used it. Very sneaky I thought, and completely not the case! I have never come across such a policy before, or such a tone of customer service! I do not believe for one minute that just because an item has been switched on it is "not sale-able as brand new" and unusable by anyone else! However, concerned that the switching on of the item would result in it being returned to me and not wanting to pay more for the priviledge, I have decided to keep it.
So... I have now used it and loaded photos onto it (there you go seller - as you read this review you will be well aware now that I HAVE used it - but only AFTER you decided to be awkward and unreasonable!). I stand by much of my original review. The item is of good quality, the display is good and the delivery (but not much else) from the seller was excellent and the item arrived promptly.
However, as I have now used it, I find that the features on it are rather disappointing. I can only give it 2 stars as there is no random/shuffle feature. Be aware that this means that all your photos will appear, everytime you switch it on, in the order that you have loaded them. I think one of the most enjoyable things about viewing photos is having them appear in a random order (or at least having the option of seeing them like that!). No other review or item description gives any mention to a shuffle feature so I thought someone should mention it
So a word of warning to anyone buying such an item - do not switch it on until you are sure you want to keep it or it will not be "sale-able as brand new"!

I purchased this after reviewing many products and reading the reviews. I agree the picture quality is good, however have bought a proline photo player for half the price which has this quality and functionality. I was interested in the extras.
There was battery in the pack for the remote, which is needed as there are limted functions on the touch screen. I rarely have any problems with devices which play .mp3 or display jpeg. So why cannot movies be the same? I also could not play .avi files. The instruction book says MPEG1 or MPEG4 as well. It would be more accurate to say 'some' MPEG. I use Adobe premier elements to edit home movies and must have tried 20 different outputs before I could find a single MPEG1 format that would play. Some files were recognised by the device but would not play.
Another irritation was the back ground music. I loaded .mp3 and jpegs to both internal memory and an SD card. The device displays the photo's on the card once selected, however when ever background music is selected on the hand set it defaults to the internal memory tunes and photo's.

The reason for buying this item was to save on the cost of Ink Cartridges when showing off my holiday photos, and it does this job very well. The Battery backup has enabled me to put holiday snaps on it and pass it around with the remote control.
As well as displaying photos this device can also play MP3 tunes, Play Videos (although I'm having issues with the format), and display some limited text files.

Chose this as it seemed to be the only photo frame that does video/sound, has own battery/memory & is easy to use with a computer - and a multi 100-240Volt charger to boot!
Have used it with a 2GB Sandisk SD memory card [< £10] to watch a 1.5GB movie - picture/sound quality more than acceptable [volume loud enough]. Encoded movie with 'Super' [Google for 'super encoder'] to avi/DivX/MP3. Can play MP3 while the pictures are cycling through [there are 14 various picture transition effects including random]
Downsides: Have to manipulate photos before putting on frame as best used in landscape mode [stand only works in this mode] - there is a rotate button on remote but this is forgotten when move to next image [or back again].
The screen is not 'touch sensitive' [which would have been very nice] - just some buttons below it are. These buttons don't allow control of
many functions - definitely don't lose the remote [which has a ~12 foot range]! Also found the clock time to drift minutes a day
Many of the negatives could be fixed with new firmware...come-on Varnam!
Firmware: DMA808 V05 [bottom item in Setup menu]
