 "Terrible" 2010-05-13
By T. Gregory (Southampton, Hampshire)
Bought these to replace my faultless phillips which have lasted ages but have finally given up. They were around the same price so I was expecting similar levels of quality. I was wrong.

The sound quality was appalling, I had to turn the bass on my iPod up to the max to try to counter act the tinny sound. Listening to something like Greenday (lots of guitar and drums) wasn't too bad but everytime the symbol was hit it actually hurt my ears and listening to something like La Roux was simply out of the question. Any high pitched sound, no matter how subtle or quite through speakers, suddenly became a deafening sound.

The sound of the cord rub was also unbelievably bad. Just sitting down, let alone walking around, the slightest head movement made the rubbing clearly audible over the music.

These headphones are terrible. I bought these Panasonics instead: Panasonic RP-HJE170E-W Ear Canal Headphones - White. Not only are they cheaper, but a million times better!

"Great headphones for the price" 2010-04-28
By Edward Nunn
I bought these headphones when I was on holiday in the States as I lost the ones that I used on the way over.

These headphones are great for the price, giving a very good level of bass without compromising on the treble.

Also, they're great for using on aircraft as they block out an amazing amount of background noise. Flying back to the UK I put the headphones in without listening to anything, and for the first time ever I managed to sleep on a plane.

 "SONY DELIVERS" 2010-04-07
By NeuroSplicer (Freeside, in geosynchronous orbit)
I was in search for a pair of cheap noise-reducing earphones to use for gaming or music on my PC. I wanted something lightweight and unobstructive and not too expensive. SONY, once more, delivered a good product at a fair price.

Checking out AMAZON reviews I was on the fence for either these (in black) or the Sennheiser CX300-B. There is a concerning number of reviews on the SENNHEISER complaining about either low material durability and/or interference noises form the cables touching either clothes or surfaces. Since, in my case, the main cable was going to be in constant contact with my desk I decided not to risk it. And did not regret it for a moment.

The SONYs come with three sizes of hardened silicone ear-cones (medium is the one pre-installed) and they work fine in reducing external noise. You will be able to follow a conversation if muted but once the sound is working do not expect to be able to ...multitask (eg: listening to music and holding a conversation with your wife).

They fit easily and I did not experience any discomfort if used for long periods of time.

I am no extreme audiophile but the sound is comparable to my 2+1 set of Logitech Z-2300. The later is an important detail because they come with a remote volume control which has an earphones outlet. Since the total cable length is somewhat less than 4ft (1.2m), I would not be able to use them for my PC which stands on the floor if not for this remote.

The earphones are well built and so far experienced neither friction interference nor static discharges.

My only gripes:

- the earbuds cables are not of the around-the-neck type. I prefer those better because you can take them off and still keep them hanging around your neck without fishing for them later.

- the cable is thin but not flimsy. However, this is not true for the jack. It is remarkably smaller and harder to pull out than the older models I was used to.

Other than that,

RECOMMENDED.

 "MDR-EX35LP Headphones" 2010-04-01

I have owned a pair of these headphones for about a year now. I will agree with some of the other reviews and say that these headphones are not perfect. However, being that i have used Sennheiser in the past and often spent upwards of £50 for headphones every 2-3 months, i think that these are superb for the price. OK, so for some of you, there might not be enough native bass from the headphones, but with a little EQ tweaking this situation can be improved. I must admit, this far down the line my right earphone (which i have used every day for at least 3 hours) has finally given in, and the overall volume has decreased, but it is still worth it even though when i bought them they were about £30.

Comfort-wise. Being an everyday biker and having one of the earphones in whilst riding, i must say that they are unbelievably comfortable. The slight angle is designed for ergonomics, so yes it may feel different at first, but wear them for a couple of hours and you will definitely find them more comfortable.

To sum up these earphones, i would have to say that they are unbeatable for the price. The sound quality is good enough for 90% of what most people will use them for, and the level of comfort is second to none in the sub-£50 range. Do not try and use them for recording studios or other such professional reasons, because they do not cover the full range of frequencies. However for the everyday user, they deal with the necessary frequencies, and as such they are more than worth it.

 "Pretty Dissapointed." 2010-03-25
By H. Bishop
Bought these quickly and without much thought as a replacement for some other headphones which broke, and regretted it as soon as they arrived. the wires looked flimsy, and easily breakable. they don't fit in my ear, and the way they are designed seems completely illogical - even having the left and right headphoes in the opposite ears was an improvement. the sound was tinny, with absolutely no bass, and really piercing treble. not what i was looking for.
