"Great alt option to cans!" 2010-07-08
By DON
These were recommended to me through an earphone seller on the web and I cant fault them - you get the drum panning that you'd get from cans and the depth of field is really quite stunning for such a low priced earphone. Solid low end, detailed middle and refined treble make these an essential addition to your earphone library! I have Grados, Audio Technicas cans and these sit well with them, at the end, but well! Highly recommended.

 "Great headphones" 2010-05-20
By Mr. Jon Forster (London, England)
I have been working my way through the 200, 300 and now 500 series Seinns. I travel al ot and also listen to an ipod around my apartment. These are the best I have found. Great build and excellent sound. The other thing I really like is that the sound stays in your ears and I don't annoy others with the 'tiss, tiss' sound of music leak from headphones.

If you are still using the white apple headphones then...why??! Get these and you will get a huge improvement for not a lot of cash.

 "Great" 2010-04-29

Theese are alot better than the CX 400s, the volume control on theese work more affetively, they are better at isolating noise, and all together a cleare sound. By far the best headphones in this price range. For once i don't need to put my iPod on near full volume to here the song

The lowest price I ever seen for these headphones.

If I'd have wanted to buy it in France, it would have costed around 50

Euros. So that's a good deal !

Even lower on Amazon Uk than on Amazon France..

Moreover, 2days of delivery.. perfect!

Quite expensive for what they are, but they do a marvellous job. All but the loudest external sounds are excluded whilst the projected music is of a good, rich quality.

Much better than standard ipod earphones.

"OK, but not without (rather serious) issues" 2010-04-24
By AlexMck
The Sennheiser cx-500 white in-ear earphones I have are not by any stretch bad, but I have a few issues with them.

1. The backplate of each headphone with the logo on seems to be glued on, and after a couple of months' light usage one has nearly fallen off.

2. The sound quality is excellent, with a crisp response and a wide, precise soundstage -- so long as you don't turn the volume up. As soon as you increase the volume on the inline control, the sound becomes shrill and unpleasant, and to make matters worse as you slide the volume control you hear a disconcerting crackling sound. Also, the left and right channels do not increase at the same time.

I haven't used a great many headphones so I don't know if these issues are normal, but i'm beginning to think that I might have recieved a fake set of headphones. However, they do work OK for most of the time, with passable noise reduction (though not as good as my previous headphones, the creative ep-830s).

"Good but has potential to break easily" 2010-04-16
By L. Farrow (Hampshire, UK)
I recently bought these earphones as a birthday present for my brother. Initially they were very good, the quality of the sound was brilliant. However, within a few weeks the wire casing around the volume control split, exposing the wires. The seller was very good in arranging a return and sent another set out. So far so good!

"Volume control causing crackling noises" 2010-04-08
By OM Edinburgh (Edinburgh, UK)
Hi,

Got the CX500 for Christmas, and was initially very impressed by the sound quality and comfort.

However after a couple of month the volume control started to make crackling sounds when adjusting the volume, and few weeks later, the situation got to a point that it now make the same crackling noise whenever you touch or move the volume control. (So now if I am listening to my MP3 while walking for example I have the lots of crackling noises as a background!). I would recommend going for the CX300 instead that does not have a volume control, but probably won't have the same issue.

Thanks

"For this money I doubt there is anything better" 2010-03-30
By Adrian J. Kerry
Really impressed with this ear buds - I decided to go for the CX500's over the other options in the line as they are supposed to be the high spec option, and yet they were way cheaper than the lower models at the time of purchase.

The tonal range seems superb and the weighting of all the different frequencies is rendered very well (partly due to the player I'm sure - Sony E445B, customisable EQ is the reason I ditched the Nano for this).

Even better still though (and this is one of the biggest boons for me), fantastic noise cancelling. I take the train into London every day and as such I was considering active noise cancelling headphones, but when I saw the price for these I decided that it was worth a go, if I didn't like them I could always return them! Well, it's 1 month in now and I've still got them - uttterly fantastic little buds!

 "Tchaiko" 2010-05-05

After a couple of months the Right channel failed fortunately the supplier Retail Therapy from N. Ireland agreed to replace them with a different Sennheiser product which turned out to be better. I now dislike the in-line volume adjust as it's unnecessary and another part to go wrong. Keep things simple for lasting durability and performance. This product does the brand of Sennheiser no good.

"Great Sound, Poor Build Quality..." 2010-05-05
By C. H. G. Yeung (United Kingdom)
My iPod headphones broke so I needed replacements (to be honest the iPod ones were pretty poor anyway) so I looked on the internet to see which were the best headphones on the market for a reasonable price. These earphones kept popping up, the CX 500's had great reviews and the price wasn't too bad either. I had never used Sennheiser before so I figured I'd give it a shot (plus most people told me they're pretty good.)

It didn't take long after making my purchase online for them to arrive, upon opening them I felt rather happy with my purchase. The accessories provided were more than enough to satisfy anyone's needs really. Several replacement ear buds which came with different sizes to suit the user's ears and a small carrying case which the earphones could be kept in.

After my first use, I understood why these received such good reviews. The sound quality was great and I could FEEL the base! I wanted to post an instant review with how pleased I was with these as I had never really bought such a good pair of earphones before. However after reading several reviews I decided to wait a while as many people have stated that the build quality can be a bit disappointing. I'm glad I made this decision...

These were great, until a few days ago the right earphone just stoppped working... If I twisted the wire at the bottom slightly, the sounded would go back to it but it would be a little fuzzy. Now I'm not really prepared to have to hold the wire in a twisted position while I'm listening to music, it's not something I expect to have to do... Quite disappointed with this factor as I have only had these for about 1 and a half months! I expected them to last longer.

If you're looking for good sound quality look no further, Sennheiser have mastered that perfectly, now if only they could improve the build quality...

 "A very pleasant surprise" 2010-05-02
By Mr. L. A. Lacey (Surrey, UK)
I've had CX300's for over two years, always being very impressed with the big increase in music enjoyment over standard earphones, especially for the price. However, these gave up the treble in the left ear last month.

Having seen the CX500's coming down in price after being discontinued, I decided to take the plunge and give them a go, noting a few 3rd party sellers selling them.

With one ear to the counterfeit identification descriptions online and YouTube video help, I decided to go ahead and order through JStar. They arrived 5 days later, got out the packaging and watched the YouTube walkthrough to see if these were the true product. Everything was fine. Quality packaging/print, then the product all matched the real deal.

Then I plugged them in - the difference is immediate - I've read a review somewhere which said some earphones look great on paper, and promise much, but some earphones just give you want you want to hear - these come into the latter. 30-40% more clarity across the spectrum, retaining the rich bass (as long as you've got your good ear seal with the correct buds) and separation of instruments. The space and atmosphere coming out of well-listened to recordings was startling. You can see why these were originally in the £80-90 bracket. Putting the iPhone on shuffle, every song which came up was intriguing as the whole mix sounded new and insightful. Initially thinking these were a bit bright sounding, it was the realisation that I'd been missing information, not these over-emphasising the top end. You'd wish your main hifi sounded like these.

Overall, especially for what these are now costing, a real bargain. Highly recommended.

"Should have headed the warnings :o(" 2010-04-27
By Daniel (London)
Received these today and most of the sound comes from one ear-piece (the right one is very quiet) so they have gone back. For the record, the sound from the left ear wasn't bad, but I expect more for the money. So disappointed as I've been using an old pair of Sennheiser's for a couple of years and they have served me well. Obviously not all of them will be broken but I won't be replacing with the same model given the rest of the comments regarding their longevity.

 "CX500" 2010-04-21
By Craig Cornock (UK)
Great sound, better than my old CX300s. One gripe is that the leads are made from a soft rubber and they stick to everything, especially leather jackets so am constantly yanking the leads to free them which doesn't bode well for the longevity of the product.

Please nevertheless though.
