"Great foldable headphones for the money." 2010-07-24
By Mrs. Rachel Allan (Bristol, UK)
Great headphones. I like the foldability and that the cord is only on one side. Less chance of it getting tangled up. The sound quality is really good as well although sometimes my ears get a bit sweaty. :0)

"love my px 200's but the II's are so much better" 2010-05-22
By M. Showers (U.K)
WOW ! what can i say, Sennheiser have done it again these headphones sounded lovely straight out of the box and if these are gonna sound even better when the units loosen up (according to the first(very technical) reviewer) then these were more than worth the money ! has made my enjoyment of music on the move a pleasure again, they are very lightweight in comparison to the older models, sometimes you forget that you are wearing them. However i do agree with the other reviewers here, the volume control i don't think is needed and does get in the way slightly, unless you have a shirt pocket to clip it too. apart from that 4.5 stars easily :-)

"A Good Upgrade from the PX 200 - Nice" 2010-05-10
By Polojo (UK)
This review is mainly for the benefit of those thinking of upgrading from the Sennheiser PX 200 headphones. Before buying the Sennheiser PX 200 II, I have used one pair of White PX 100s, two genuine PX 200s as well as one fake PX 200.

The fake ones were a bargain, so please don't buy them if very cheap. I use my headphone for an average of four to five hours a day on my long train journeys to work and in the gym.

The PX 200 II are definitely a step up from the PX 200s. Out of the box they sound boomy but after continuously playing it for 24 hours they really come into their zone. I listen to R&B, Hip Hop and Smooth Jazz and compared to the PX 200s which I do rate very highly, the music is better rounded and clearer. The bass on various IPod settings is amazing for such a small pair of headphones.

The noise cancellation is very good and be prepared for the pleasure of not hearing other peoples conversation on train journeys or in public. Public announcements still come through but you might have to reduce the volume. Don't be fooled by the size of the ear pads, they are very lightweight and comfortable. I recommend them if you like you music of clear listening of films or TV Programmes.

The only quirks with the PX 200 II are the length of the cord which is shorter. Also the volume adjuster is not required if you have a good MP3 player. I actually find this addition irritating as you feel the tug when running or even walking fast. My advice to Sennheiser is make a version without the volume adjuster as the truth is some of us will actually buy it. I will still buy these headphones again when my current ones wear out with or without the volume thing. That's how good they are. Glad to be of help.

 "Sennheiser PX200-II headphones" 2010-05-06
By M. Owen (UK)
I've owned these headphones for a month now, and the sound quality is now much improved. I also have an old pair of PX100 and I find that the PX200 sound quality is not quite as good as the PX100....but it's close. The difference being that the PX100 are open (people around you can hear the music) and this, apparently, makes it easier to create a good dynmaic response. However, the listending experience is very different from the PX100 to the PX200-II. The PX100 feel open and airy, and you can still hear things around you, whereas the PX200-II create a very insulated feeling, and lock out a lot of external sound.

Some of the more powerful mid-deep bass can feel a little oppresive, almost as though it's being drilled into your head, but I've only encountered this occasionally on certain types of music that have very strong bass beats.

The PX200-II apply more pressure to the ear, to create the seal, but I've found them comfortable even after a few hours of listening, and it's easy to forget you are wearing them.

I've also compared the PX200-II to Grado SR60 (open), and Bose QC3 (closed), and I found that the PX200-II have a more punchy, energetic sound, although the dynamic reponsse seems less balanced.

If you are looking for on-ear closed headphones for <£100, then these are a good buy....but don't forget to run them in for about >10 hours !

"An improvement on the original PX200" 2010-01-23
By A. R. Moorey (UK)
Whilst I am no audiophile like the previous reviewer or have access to reference quality headphones, I can compare these to the original PX 200.

I got these to replace the previous version after one of the cables detatched from the ear piece after 4 years of ownership. It's used solely for my train journeys to work. The previous versions were chosen because I wanted a decent sound, don't like in-the-ear phones, wanted some/most external noise muffled and don't want everyone to hear some of my more cheesy music choices.

First the sound quality for music. The extra base is very noticeable over the original version. At first this was slightly off- putting, but as I got used to it, I found the overall sound more engaging and clearer. Music has been definately more exciting to listen to.

Normally, I listen to alot of spoken word podcasts and the extra base was not noticeable at all.

I found the volume control unnecessary for an ipod but I can see the point if you use an iphone as it's harder to fine tune the volume on the phone itself. As there is only one cable into a single ear piece, the weight of the control can pull a bit which is annoying.

I really liked the hard case with the previous version. This only comes with a cheap pouch. Though the PX200 II are sturdier, I worry more that they may get squashed in my bag.

Overall 4 stars. They are more expensive but the sound quality and general build quality is greatly improved. Don't see the need for a volume control and would like to see the hard case return.

 "Headphones!!!" 2010-07-01
By dev
I bought this product mainly for the gym, as i did not prefer listening to the dance music played at the gym. these headphones are not noise cancelling but do a very good job in drowning out most of the background noise. the sound quality is incredible, the first time i listened to my favourite songs with them, i was amazed to find that i could actually hear certain sounds and beats that i could not hear before through regualr headphones or speakers. the bass is amazing and sound is crisp!! i use these headphone all the time they are a great buy!!

 "Chosen from your reviews" 2010-05-26
By Helen (Berwick upon Tweed)
Not knowing much about headphones, over-earphones, in-earphones etc, I looked at hundreds of your reviews and chose these. They're superb, the sound is great and I'm very grateful to all the electronic experts for their advice in their reviews.

 "Why no case?" 2010-05-10
By Mr. A. WILLIS (London)
I've bought several pairs of the original px100 'phones over the years for myself and my children and have really liked them, so my expectations were high when I purchased these. In my opinion they do feel sturdier, the headband is stronger and they grip the ears very slightly more firmly than their predecessors. I like the single wire, which is now somewhat thicker and feels like it should be more durable (and won't split like the old ones always did). I like the sound quality too, comparable with the old model, though I admit I'm no audiophile. I do wear them for 4-5 hrs a day though, and they are comfortable. So all in all pretty pleased with the phones themselves.

But they got it so wrong with the stupid little bag that comes with it for 'protection'. The strongest feature of the old design was the cunning way they folded up and fitted into their hard plastic case, where they would stay completly protected from damage in the bottom of your bag. Well these headphones fold the same way, and they deserve to have at least as good a case, but what they have is a joke. So do bear in mind if you do get these, that you might need to spend a bit more to look after them properly

"WARNING: Sennheiser will NOT honor warranty" 2010-05-09
By Southville (Bristol, England)
I bought a pair of 'phones, seemingly sold with a two year warranty.

However Sennheiser have refused to honor the two year warranty because in their words "The Amazon Marketplace is NOT an authorised dealer."

Mine have started to split where the cable meets the jack, which is exactly the same problem I had with the last pair. Given that these are only 9 months old I contacted Sennheiser only to be politely told to eff off.

I will NEVER buy Sennheiser again and in my view they are in breech of UK law and if the headphone were more expensive I'd fight them over it.

"These don't compare to the original Senheiser PX 100" 2010-04-25
By J.D. (London, England, United Kingdom)
I bought a set of Senheiser PX 100s about a year ago after reading favourable reviews about them on this site and in numerous hi-fi mags. I wasn't disappointed. Based on this experience, I decided to give a the PX 100-IIs a try.

These headphones just don't stand up to the originals. The bass swamps the sound to such an extent it sounds murky and dull in comparison to the PX 100s. What's more, they're double the price. Another qualm I have is that they've replaced the original hard plastic storage case with a little velvety carry bag, meaning your headphones are more likely to be crushed or damaged in a bag or pocket.

Seinheiser did a good job with the design however - the wire is slightly shorter, and they made the wire one-sided rather than split into two.

But ultimately, headphones are about sound, and that's where these headphones fail. You can't fix what wasn't broken in the first place. Buy a set of PX 100s.
